    BASS MUSIC BLOG FREE ALBUM

    February 25th, 2010

    phpWOVqPW

Our good mates at the Bass Music Blog are releasing a free album next week which will test the waters of BLOG POWER!!!

Hot on the heels of this and I don’t think we’ve announced it on the blog until now but GENERATION BASS will be releasing 2 compilations on worldwide release on CD/Digi formats for the American Six Degrees Label and these will be followed by releases on our own Digi label later this year.  More on that soon.

I certainly believe and know BLOGS are having a lot of influence in the current music scene as we have personally experienced this ourselves but I think the aim really is to be treated pretty much in the same influential way as some of the Dance Mags that have been going for years.

Anyway, here’s what the guys at Bass Music blog say about their new album:

I.D. & Baobinga to release free album – Bass Music Sessions released March 1 through bassmusicblog.com

    02.19.2010 – I.D. & Baobinga – Bass Music Sessions

    Release date: March 1st.

Dance music pioneers I.D. & Baobinga follow the critically acclaimed debut – 2008’s ‘Big Monster’, album of the month in DJ Mag – with a fresh new work that outlines the burgeoning sound of bass music in the UK.

Called ‘Bass Music Sessions’, this album confirms their forward-looking approach, as it will be released for free through their website at www.bassmusicblog.com, using platforms such as bandcamp.com to take advantage of the flexibility and possibilities for promotion open to artists in 2010.

Since the last album, the pair have released on labels spanning the bass music spectrum; from US hiphop innovators Mad Decent to dubstep legends Earwax, from NY crew Trouble&Bass to Portugal’s Enchufada, home of Buraka Som Sistema, from Tayo’s groundbreaking Cool & Deadly label to a remix of the Wu Tang Clan on BabyGrande.

They’ve also brought new ideas to the table – in 2009 they started bassmusicblog.com, which gives away exclusive tracks and mixes to become one of the most popular blogs in its field, and November saw the first release on Baobinga’s new label Build Recordings – kicking off with another Baobinga & I.D. track, Tongue Riddim, featuring Roska on remix duties.

The tracks range from the chunky house of ‘BackFoot’, played out by the likes of Claude Von Stroke and Julio Bashmore, through the post-dubstep sway of ‘Hither & Thither’, which has been picked up by Untold and Ben UFO, the dirty-South inspired dubstep of ‘Still Tippin’, – on rotation with Mensah and Hyetal, kuduro influenced ‘Man Down’ (play from TRG, Buraka Som Sistema etc) and the massive DnB smasher ‘The King’, which has been played out by DJ Friction, DJ Die and more.

The album will be released on a ‘pay what you want’ basis, although gaining cash isn’t really the aim, so any money it does accrue will be donated to Dove House Hospice in Hull, UK.

Listen to a minimix of the tracks on the album here:

    It’s the MIXFEST.

Gonna limit this to around 3 mixes from now on in order to give peeps the chance to listen to them all!

    So what’s on offer today:

    2. DJ LAKA (EX-BLOODSHAKE) MIX

    3. INDIAN DUBSTEP MIX FROM MUMBAI MAFIA

    phpPnDmPb

    BANDISH PROJEKT

I’ve already said on numerous ocassions, that Mayur from Bandish Projekt is one of the world’s best dj’s as far as I’m concerned. Well he’s certainly one of my favourite dj’s anyway.

Here’s a mix he did for Pathaan’s BBC Asian Network show which I was privy to sometime back before it was aired and it’s another stunner.

It starts with Mayur’s brilliant remix of Tremor’s “Viajante” track and goes into lots of Bandish stuff that Mayur mashes and samples into from Indian Ghazals and folkloric sounds making it what he calls a “FOLKTRONIC” set.

“Folk” meaning “Funk” cause Mayur reckons Indian Folk sounds are the “Funk”.

It’s another journey taking you somewhere that many other mixes just cannot reach!

There’s an interview there too and so it’s really interesting to hear first hand what Mayur has to say about the mix before the beauty kicks in.

    Yep, that’s Johnny.

What does he have to do with the MumBai Mafia and Indian Dubstep?

Well, nothing really, I just felt like sticking his picture up cause he’s part Indian (American Indian) and to give you girls some eye candy too :-)

This is a nice mix of Dubstep with Indian inflexions.

If you ever heard my India Calling Dubstep mix, an award winning mix..lmfao…then you’ll know some of these tracks but also there are tracks on here that you won’t know unless you closely follow the development of Indian Dubstep.

So, it’s a good introduction to Indian Dubstep!

I bet you poor Laka feels a bit too white amongst alll these Indians…lol..well, what the heck she’s Brazillian, she can qualify for being Indian too!

    TERROR TONE – BADMAN BOUNCE

    November 25th, 2009

planetterrorDM 468x447 TERROR TONE BADMAN BOUNCE Generation Bass

Here’s somebody fresh on the basss scene, Canadian producer TERROR TONE.

Here’s what he says about himself:

Terror Tone is a name I produce electronic music under.

I make music because I love music. It’s really an obsession.

If you enjoy what I do, let me know, I appreciate it tremendously.

And a little about his background:

    Biography

One fateful night, after experiencing the energy of the pulsating dance music pouring out of the speakers at a rave at the Ontario Science Centre, Terror Tone was gripped with a compelling urge to explore the depths of electronic music for himself. He started producing drum & bass music and went on to host a radio show at the University of Windsor, which went on to win titles in both “best new show” and “best electronic show” at the CJAM Radio awards in 2006.
His love for Drum and Bass quickly evolved to other genres in the rave scene to what is now quite a broad range of styles. Sitting at the computer for hours with his essentials: Cubase, multiple synths, and loads of coffee – Terror Tone churns out unparalleled original beats at a pace that would intimidate most.

Pulling influence from Drum & Bass, U.K Garage, and Dubstep – Terror Tone has created a sound reminiscent of the past, but in a refreshing, innovative style all his own. The arpeggiatted bass wobbles, fear inducing synth stabs, and intricately woven percussion, invoke an old school rave nostalgia.

From his productions, it’s clear that he doesn’t hold back – but instead indulges in every parameter available. His dedication to music is unrivaled: a true slave to his passion, Terror Tone’s social life often takes the back seat to his work. That’s not to say that when he’s out he isn’t having a good time though. Terror Tone’s, better known to his friends as Luke, is highly approachable, admirably optimistic, and loves to share his love of music with everyone.

    BLENDE

    October 15th, 2009

    blende2 BLENDE Generation Bass

    Another from TIGERBASS!

Blende is a name synonymous with excellence to many of the DJ elite around the globe.  Their high octane remixes of the Klaxons, Body Snatchers and Dolby Anol remind of an early Vitalic in their ferocity and menace, and the only fault some find is that they are just TOO good to follow with another track!  But now its time for some of their own productions to shine through, and Tigerbass is proud to release their first original release in years after the phenomenal debut ep “Get Lost” on Miles Dyson’s Plasmapool records.

“Northern school” is Blende in their element; fuzzy basslines and angry drums battle to be heard, with heavy sidechained synth riffs that were made to be played in huge clubs.  The two originals complement each other, (hence their names of v1 and v2) to give a method to the madness the listener is faced with.  Australian aficionados Acid Jacks (Trouble & Bass, idiothouse) deliver two “Metalzone” remixes to complete the record, perhaps outdoing the originals with sheer ear-splitting euphoria, while going straight for the jugular with it’s classic distorted french house grind.

Any of these tracks make a great addition to a DJs repertoire and so perhaps its no surprise that the songs have already been championed and DJ’d by artists as big as MSTRKRFT.

Unsuspecting clubbers are catapulted into a frenzy when these songs explode from the speakers. Expect bigger things to come as this EP is just a taste of what Blende are capable of.

    tracklist:

    1. Northern school V1
    2. Northern school V2
    3. Northern school (Acid Jacks “Metalzone” Remix)
    4. Northern school (Acid Jacks “Metalzone” Reprise)

Here’s one track for ya…head over to Tigerbass and buy the rest!

    KITCH ‘N SYNC : BASSLINE/FIDGET BOYZ

    October 7th, 2009

K & SI hooked up with Jackamo from this duo on Soundcloud and we both discovered we live in the same city but don’t know each other.  Believe me, although Birmingham is the UK’s second biggest city after London, it’s not hard to know everybody involved in the Club scene here.

Perhaps we don’t know each other because I avoid doing any events in my home city and have done so for the past few years because I’m LAZY hahahaha!

Anyway, good to connect with you Jackamo as your music ROCKS.

Here’s what the duo say about themsleves:

Kitch ‘n Sync are Michael Dodman & James Crone. The duo, coming from London (Michael) and Birmingham (James) have been producing and DJing together for the last 2 years and have begun to notched up a number of big tunes in a few different genres. Individually and together they have also already worked with such labels and artists as; Ministry Of Sound, Island, Atlantic, Frankmusik, Uber DJs, Little Boots, Esser, AATW (Universal) and the list keeps on growing!!

With support from such djs/stations as Kissy Sellout, Mistajam, Aquasky, Radio 1, Kiss 100, 1xtra and many many more it looks like this duo have got the makings of something big. Their first releases are out now on Downsouth Music, Electric Sushi and Junky Trunk Records (availble on beatport, djdownload, juno etc)

They are ready to really push this sound as far as they can go. Watch out for remixes coming soon on Lad Records, Sick Recordings etc. Keep up todate by adding us on here and Twitter and keeping up to date with all our fresh tracks on our player!!

So the boys not only kick some major ass but they’re also kind and sent me the following tracks and a DJ Mix for all of you to download.  After downloading, if you like it, go and buy their official stuff from Beatport!

SOUTH WALES B-MORE & BAILE FUNK!!!!

    September 29th, 2009

chesus SOUTH WALES B MORE & BAILE FUNK!!!! Generation Bass

    You know, I LOVE WALES.

For me it’s a beautiful mountainous country, especially in the North in Snowdonia, very reminiscent of my ancestral home, Kashmir.

Anyway, these guys Chesus & Rodski originate from South Wales and South Wales is a bit of awright too!  They have some nice valleys, Neath in particular.

They make B-More & Baile Funk beats alongside Fidget, Funky and Bassline.

Here’s what they say about themselves:

Chesus and Rodski are a DJ/Production duo out of Cardiff/Barry, South Wales who’s main aim in life is to make the dancefloor shake. We like Baltimore, Garage, House, Juke, Fidget, Baile, Crunk, Dancehall, Dubstep and pretty much everything else as long as it’s good. We also like Eddie Murphy, Joe Pesci, Eli Porter, Chevy Chase and all the other significant underground cultural leaders of our time and hope to let their positive influence on society affect our work.Along the way we’ve had the pleasure of playing alongside Annie Mac, Sinden, Fake Blood, Toddla T,Rico Tubbs, Mickey Slim, Roots Manuva, Zombie Disco Squad, Raffertie, Math Head, Drums of Death, Plastician, JME, Maxi Jazz, LSK, Pase Rock, Bonde de Role, The Death Set, Wholesick, Crystal Death and many more as well as remix duties for Crystal Fighters, Stagga, Matt Cant and Scattermish and Bubbz.

We are also residents for Bigger than Barry and co-promoters for up and coming Cardiff night Music by Numbers as well as running our own blog, http://chesusandrodki.blogspot.com

Sound like true Generation Basser’s to me and the proof is in the pudding with their own productions too, check out the downloads below.
