VooDoo Space Time HI-Res

Generation Bass presents: SaBBo – Voodoo Space Time EP.

Over the last couple of years we’ve always tried to bring you the latest sounds from all over the globe. Hot stuff, like Moombahton, Juke, Kuduro, Cumbia, Transnational Dubstep, South African House, Tuki Bass and all that good stuff. Recently, another great genre/sub-genre? (We aren’t all decided yet) popped up to be added to this list: “ZOUK BASS”!

Introduced by the might Buraka Son Sistema during their live Boiler Room Session in February 2013, Zouk Bass is like a modern souped-up Bass version of Tarraxinha but still, it is not quite Tarraxinha!

Hence why “We call it Zouk Bass…a brand new sound” as Mc Kalaf of Buraka Som Sistema infamously declared.

One of the originators is the Cape Verde born but Portuguese based producer Deejay Kuimba whose track “Tarraxo Na Parede” opened up Buraka’s Boiler Room set and now that sound is taking the net and the globe by storm.

One of the least likely places you’d expect this to pop up would of course be the Middle East, but then again, it’s the home to one of the most talented and multi-faced producers we know, SaBBo! He has been working on perfecting his Zouk Bass skills and is ready to drop this onto the world. SaBBo’s joints have the same great laidback vibe as the original “Tarraxo Na Parede” and he must be THE guy to bring this genre further.

This sound is so fresh that it doesn’t have those set perimeters yet that screw with any genre once it gets out there. SaBBo gives his all on these 4 cuts that rival the original “Tarraxo Na Parede” track for intensity and groove. Well programmed, deep deep drums and those thin crawly synths on top that sound like bugs buzzin’ round your head. That real tropical flavour in the percussion as well. The world better get ready for this, cause this is a big one. This will be taking over dance floors near you REAL soon!

You can downlod this EP for free for a limited time only as it will go on Official Release very soon.

And yes, we verily believe this is the First Zouk Bass EP in the world ahahaha but none of this could have happened were it not for Deejay Kuimba who made THE track and Buraka Som Sistema who played THE track to kick start a new revolution:

Generation Bass Presents DaveSamano – Folkstep

Following hot on the heels of our Dubstep meets the Blues experimentations with the brilliant Lord Cry Cry album we released last year, we now present to you yet another altogether unique and ground-breaking release!

So what do you get when you cross Fleet Foxes, Steve Earle, Mumford & Sons with Dubstep?

Well you get Alt-J but also you get DaveSamano, Generation Bass’ latest free releases recruit who paves a unique and altogether new direction for singer/songwriter Dubstep headz!

Real quality material here that presents great new possibilities for what serious and talented artists in the Rock/Country/Folk- Americana genres can do when they mix it up with underground dance sounds like Dubstep.

Yeah it could easily be Popstep/Rockstep/Luvstep/Voxstep but it’s all original well crafted material with exactly the right nuances of Dubstep to create a perfect marriage of when Rock/Folk meet Dubstep.

This really is incredible material and so miss it or ignore it at your own peril.

This is the kinda stuff that should be filling the stadiums worldwide!

He has attended many events about the Mayan Aztec culture and it is from these events that he heard these ancient sounds being played by a small select group of Mexican dj’s who inspired him to create such beats.

Puga – Ghetto Punk including a remix from Sazon Booya!

Generation Bass presents Puga – Ghetto Punk EP

A new assault in the ongoing battles to break Moombahton to a wider audience is the free series we will be presenting on the Generation Bass platform. This series will be free. Free as in sharing, not as in beer. Free as in inspiration and giving young and hardworking artists that need to be heard a voice.

We keep your woofers banging steady with this one. Puga, does that name ring a bell for ya? Think harder! Moombahton’s pioneer and inventor Dave Nada actually made an edit of this guy’s track “Sabina (Four Four Remix)” for his groundbreaking Rum & Coke EP! Yeah, do you remember now? This dude is already embedded in Moombahton history and is now expanding with help of the Generation Bass massive!

Puga is all the way from Ferreira do Zêzere, smack in the middle of Portugal. This quote pretty much says everything you need to know about someone who REALLY loves music: “Dad brought a Satellite TV home… Couldn´t understand what people were saying on any channel, soI started to watch music channels. The satellite had some new channels… Became fan of breakbeat, house and hip hop. Started to love Fatboy Slim, Chemical Brothers, Prodigy. Couldn´t get enough of music. Then found a CD in a Cereal box with Ejay and started to make beats. Some drums with no bass… WTF!? didn´t know a thing about production, only that I love doing beats…”

Now translate that to Moombahton. This is head first, rump shaking production at its very best. Aimed at the dance floor, and with a naiveté that gives it a freshness we have not heard before since we hooked up with Munchi!

The title track, “Ghetto Punk” drops super heavy kicks and snares, laced with some high pitched 808 snares and a mean ass wobble. The vocal samples are cut to perfection, telling you “you need a bass line funk”. Fresh and dope, this cut also gets a great rework by our man Sazon Booya who adds some chip tune crushed sounds and takes the cut slightly more back to its reggaeton basis. He also adds some evil synth lines that sound like lasers piercing through metal armor. Killer! “Bonfire” is slightly more percussive, giving some weird accents to a snappy 303-ish bass line that worms its way around the kick drums. But the drop.. man… Big Ting. “Stand Up” and “Bad Boy” follow a same pattern. The pattern of kick ass dance floor power that is. These 5 cuts will set the party off. Any party. A deaf people party, a brain dead zombie party if needed. Keep Puga in your visor, because this is the way Moombahton was intended to sound. And Munchi, watch your ass, because you have a contender for the crown from Portugal!

Generation Bass presents: Arehouse – Puzzle Piece EP

A new assault in the ongoing battles to break Moombahton domination is the free series we will be presenting on the Generation Bass platform. This series will be free. Free as in sharing, not as in beer. Free as in inspiration and giving young and hardworking artists that need to be heard a voice.

Ryan Howze has been gracing us with his tracks and remixes under the Arehouse guise for quite some time now. He has crafted his own sound which is not leaning on effects or impact of sound as much as on melody and the craft of writing a good tune. The title track “Puzzle Piece” is a deep excursion into moombahluv territory, with lush strings and melancholic piano chords at the heart of the tune. The trap-ish hihats and snares give this a really forward thinking feel, but the moombah beat keeps everything focused on the dance floor as well. “When You’re Gone” aims at similar emotions, but adds some treated vocal samples and heavy duty percussion to the mix. For some reason this joint feels more like a deep hiphop cut than anything related to Afrojack and the Dutch House sound. And yes, that’s a good thing.

The half tempo stomp in the middle of “Greece” again takes us back to the new wave of TRAP, currently booming all over the web. But the classic Moombah elements keep it grounded in a modern dance style. The last of these four awesome cuts, “Are You Ready” ventures more into chip tune, with its evil SID melody line and crushed samples. Again heavy and dense production with a bunch of percussive elements, created from vocal samples. Deep stuff! Arehouse keeps Moombahton lovers on the floor without making any compromise to his personal, detailed style and melodic touch!

Generation Bass presents: Rhythmstar – Body of a Goddess

A new assault in the ongoing battles to break Moombahton to higher ground is the free series we will be presenting on the Generation Bass platform. This series will be free. Free as in sharing, not as in beer. Free as in inspiration and giving young and hardworking artists that need to be heard a voice.

First up is the amazing Rhythmstar. This guy is no newcomer to the global electronic community but a powerful player on the Hawaiian Islands, written up by the Hawaii Tribune as the island’s number 1 DJ. He has now relocated to the West Coast and is ready to take on main land America! Rhythmstar transports listeners deep inside complex, enigmatic, bassline rituals with a potent elixir of future soul music, laden with deep subsonic frequencies, and driving polyrhythmic percussion. Rhythmstar’s sound is an elegant mix of bass music genres: seductive moombahton, melodic dubstep, effervescent glitch, psychedelic hip hop and everything else he can get his hands on.

For this EP, he drops some serious Moombah bangers. Powerful beats, dark synths and driving percussion give this release an almost apocalyptic feel in its opener “Body of a Goddess”. A perfect track for the great David Starfire to play with and add some serious wobble and midrange power to in his flaming remix! In the next two joints, Rhythmstar takes his foot of the pedal a bit and adds some South American flavor to his blend with sultry acoustic guitar licks in “I’m Not Dreaming” and the highly percussive “Mas Caliente”, which is a track that has the potential to set any dance floor on fire. Heavy synths and bass pressure propel the Moombah snares that accents the movements of La Colitas (backsides to anyone in a non-latin country) to be shaken in the club… “Moombahtron” takes us into a more techno sounding territory, with trancey synths and robot voices working side by side to make this a track excellently suited for driving your car too fast.

These 4 tracks and a remix show us the wide range of stuff Rhythmstar is capable of within the Moombahton genre and the sidesteps he can add to the genre. Intricate drum programming and lush melodies form the key element to the great, great sound that is Rhythmstar!
